What to do with an old iBook?

December 20, 2008 – 9:28 am | by morituri

Less than 3 weeks ago, I purchased a new (though refurbished) entry level MacBook as a replacement for my long serving iBook. As it turns out, the timing was just right as my iBook finally gave up yesterday.

My iBook has served me well for over 3 years. It has had several parts replaced : hard disk, battery and power adaptor. Other than that, the iBook has had no problems and it was sufficiently powerful to perform my day to day tasks : web browsing, watching videos, light office work, and of course blogging.

Now it appears that it’s the iBook’s hard disk which has failed. I have a couple of options : replace the hard disk and keep the iBook as a second notebook, or sell it for parts.

Any recommendations?

Replace the hard disk, of course! That baby is too useful to let it collect dust, rite?
